MF House

RESIDENTIAL LONDON

A radical architectural intervention conceived as a complete structural rebuild — the partial demolition of original perimeter walls and a full reconfiguration across four rebuilt floors — MF House transforms a constrained London terrace into a highly engineered modern residence where every level is bound together by a single, unbroken vertical narrative.

ENGINEERING SPACE & LIGHT

The driving ambition was to create an uninterrupted flow of space across basement, ground and first floors — three storeys reading as one continuous volume. To preserve this openness without compromising fire safety, the design integrates a concealed, automated fire curtain that descends only when needed, allowing the house to breathe as a single environment in everyday life. Natural light is drawn deep into the plan through oversized architectural skylights and expansive sliding glazing that dissolves the boundary between interior and the landscaped rear patio.
“Three floors collapse into one continuous volume — the architecture becomes a single instrument tuned to light, movement, and the slow choreography of daily life.”

SCULPTURAL DETAILS & INTEGRATED LIGHTING

Vertical circulation is the home’s aesthetic anchor. The solid oak staircase is a masterclass in integration: a recessed, bespoke handrail is carved directly into the balustrade, traced by a hidden LED line that creates a continuous luminous channel emphasising the grain of the timber. Beneath the lower flight, the structure is reimagined as a multifunctional library — bookshelves, display niches and concealed storage worked seamlessly into the geometry of the treads. The same vocabulary of “carved” space continues in the hallways, where geometric, oak-lined recesses punctuate the white plasterwork as quiet moments of architectural relief.

BESPOKE INTERIORS & TACTILE MATERIALITY

Every room is resolved through custom-engineered joinery designed to eliminate visual noise and let the architecture speak. The result is a calm, almost monastic interior in which clutter has no place to settle.

– Monolithic Cabinetry — Floor-to-ceiling bespoke wardrobes in matte white lacquer, with handleless push-to-open detailing — engineered to dissolve into the architectural fabric.
– Tactile Composition — A vertical ribbed-stone backdrop, floating sage-green vanity and circular halo-backlit mirror compose a study in contemporary texture and indirect light.
– Garden Studio — A contemporary, timber-clad retreat at the garden’s end — a private studio that mirrors the main home’s minimalist language in a more elemental key.
– The Garden Patio — A stone-paved terrace anchored by a Japanese maple, with an external steel stair connecting upper levels and a glass walk-on rooflight feeding light to the floor below.
